Alisma Subcordata: A Native Aquatic Plant with Medicinal Potential

Alisma Subcordata, commonly known as American Water Plantain, is a perennial aquatic plant often found in wetlands and alongside ponds. While it is not widely known for culinary use, it holds potential in medicinal applications:

Edible Parts: The roots of Alisma Subcordata can be cooked and consumed, offering a starchy component to diets. However, they must be thoroughly cooked to neutralize any potentially harmful substances.

Medicinal Uses: Traditionally, various cultures have valued Alisma Subcordata for its potential medicinal benefits. The plant has been explored for its diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties, and some use it in herbal remedies to support kidney and urinary tract health. However, it's important to approach its medicinal use with caution and under professional guidance.

Important: Prioritize Safety and Proper Research

Utilization of Alisma Subcordata, especially for its medicinal properties, requires careful research and consultation with experts in herbal medicine. Accurate identification and an understanding of its effects are crucial.

Shipping Information:

We don't want you to have any worries about your plant when it ships! We are a fresh to order nursery so we have no stock on the shelf. This is to allow us to provide you with the healthiest plants we possibly can! We collect and send out plants Monday and Tuesday so they wonโ€™t get stuck in the mail over the weekend. We label each species of plants individually with their scientific and common name. We fill the excess space in the package with air pillows and packing paper to prevent the plants from receiving damage during shipping.

Carbon Emission Statement:

We carbon-offset by using recycled boxes and packing material from our local area whenever we can, and as much as we can! As a Fresh-To-Order Nursery it's part of the job to try helping ensure that Earth lasts for generations ahead. While providing beautiful plants in these areas also requires taking care of the plants that grow there. Harvesting only occurs on acres pure untouched marsh or wetlands which provide habitats for wildlife, both now and hopefully for many years to come! It is our mission to preserve these areas.
